The Julia Morgan Ballroom at the Merchants Exchange is an exclusive, architectural gem located in the heart of San Francisco. Designed by Julia Morgan and Willis Polk in the Beaux Arts style of Hearst Castle, the Ballroom with adjoining Daniel Burnham Bar and Lounge, and additional meeting rooms, can easily accommodate any special event from an elegant formal wedding or holiday party to annual corporate sales events or training seminars.
The street-level entrance to the Merchants Exchange Building leads to a gorgeous barrel-vaulted lobby that sparkles with marble, gold leaf, and bronze. The Ballroom, Bar, Lounge and meeting rooms occupy the 15th floor where floor-to-ceiling arched windows provide majestic views of the heart of San Francisco's skyline. A 27-foot curved mahogany bar, a 20-foot fireplace of creamy stone, and a honey-combed ceiling of mahogany octagonals, are just a few of the features of this landmark locale.
Director of Hospitality Philip Spiegel brings more than a decade of San Francisco hospitality and food and service industry experience to the Julia Morgan Ballroom. A third-generation native San Franciscan, Philip began his hospitality career by buying small San Francisco-based restaurants and developing them through superior service and dedication. A graduate of the University of San Francisco’s McClaren School of Business, Philip applies his combination of practical and academic experience to the wonderful and ever changing world of hospitality.
